I was raised (<- actually not true, per se... but I did live there for a few years and it is home to my clan) out west on the Llano Estacado halfway between Lubbock, Texas and the New Mexico state line. Let me tell you folks, it is FLAT out there! Big sky in all directions. I grew to love it. If you travel a little way south of my hometown on FM303 and turn around and face it, this is kind of what it looks like. Cotton or Milo growing in the fields interspersed with clumps of oilwells. And the smell! Ay chihuahua... thank goodness paintings don't capture the smell of an oil field. You do NOT want that.
